Winning accolades is something that never gets old for us. In the past we’ve been named the top host city for international conventions in the Americas— for three consecutive years. We are the International Congress and Convention Association’s (ICCA) top events city in North America—for four consecutive years. We’re Canada’s top sports city, as declared by the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance (CSTA). And just a couple weeks ago, our local economic development organization—Montréal International—was crowned the best economic development agency in the world.
They say it’s lonely at the top. But actually, we’re feeling fine and dandy.
Prevue Visionary Award
Montréal has won yet another accolade. In the 2020 Prevue Visionary Awards, we’ve been given “silver” in the category of Best International Destination for Meetings & Conventions. Gold went to our friends across the sea, Great Britain. In other words, we came in second place… to an entire nation.
Heck, we’ll take it.
What is particularly wonderful about this award is that the people who voted are decision-makers for meetings: event professionals, meeting planners, event technologists, and more. The awards are voted by the people, so to speak. And if we’ve learned anything over the past week, it’s that voting matters.
What exactly are the Visionary Awards?
The Visionary Awards are given annually to acknowledge forward-thinking destinations, hotels and resorts, cruise lines, and airlines of the industry. Voting is by Prevue Magazine readers and their Advisory Board. The winners of the 2020 Prevue Visionary Awards were revealed in the November/December issue of Prevue, and online on November 3, 2020.
Congratulations to all the winners!
