MTL 24/24 is a Montréal-based non-profit organization with a lofty and exciting mission: to establish the nightlife as a new space for economic growth. And we’re here for it.
Nights shine in Montréal
Montréal is a world-renowned nightlife city. Where else can you find city-wide all-nighter parties throughout the year? Montréal was the first North American city to adopt the now-international phenomenon of Nuit Blanche, way back in 2002. It’s where Igloofest – an EDM dance festival that happens not only after dark, but outdoors in the midst of winter – has grown every year since its inception in 2008. It’s where musicians, acrobats, dancers and fire-breathers animate the streets every summer night on Place des Festivals. It’s where Montréal en Lumière turns up the light with free interactive installations designed to shine after sunset.
MTL 24/24 sees the light
MTL 24/24 aims to capitalize on that phenomenon and grow it. Founded in 2017 by Mathieu Grondin, Alexis Simoneau and G.-Vincent Melo, the organization was influenced by the rich nightlife they experienced in European cities they visited. Their aim is to enhance the development of Montréal by capitalizing on the night as a new frontier for innovation.
With an approach rooted in mindful development and a focus on shared uses, MTL 24/24 seeks to activate community integration and original research to produce nighttime events that stimulate Montréal’s economic growth, with a philanthropic leaning. Working closely with the City of Montréal, MTL 24/24 has also created ties with local greats like C2, SAT, MUTEK and the MURAL festival.
This coming May 17 and 18, you can see them in action at the MTL au Sommet de la nuit conference. The fourth edition of this cool event will take place at Phi Centre and will examine the theme of NOX ✦ SPATIUM. Because night isn’t only a time, it’s a space. It’s a space where we can weave connections, build ideas, dance, dream and celebrate our beloved cities together.
Services on offer
MTL 24/24 offer advice and workshops to support artists, nightlife professionals and decision makers; they organize educational activities around public issues relating to the night; they fund research and gather data on Montréal’s nightlife; and they produce innovative events to promote Quebec’s nocturnal culture.
