Industry News and Leaders Tourisme Montréal: News and People What's New in Montréal Trends and Technology

Given the city’s position as one of the world leaders in Artificial Intelligence research and development, Montréal is the perfect host city for World Summit AI – so perfect, in fact, that we’ve been named the official home base for the 2019-2021 editions! This April 10-11, 2019, the first-ever Summit in the Americas will see over 1,000 international AI experts gather in Montréal at the regal St. James Theatre for two packed days of presentations, networking and exchange.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19 precautionary measures, World Summit AI 2020 has moved to an online-only format. See website for further details.

Celebrating diversity and creativity

For this inaugural edition of World Summit Americas AI, a full program featuring 60 speakers from the worlds of tech, business and science, along with workshops offering hand-on experiences, planning for future developments and a focused look at the AI4Good initiative of affecting true social change via technology promise an unforgettable 48 hours. Limited to just 1,000 spaces, the Summit also offers a uniquely intimate experience. With the WSAI Global community numbering upwards of 40,000 international members, this first Montréal edition will offer unbeatable proximity to some of the field’s biggest movers and shakers.

Montréal’s an AI mothership

As home base to leading AI organizations like MILA (the Montréal Institute for Learning Algorithms), IVADO (Institute for Data Valorisation), big business initiatives like Microsoft, Facebook, Samsung and Google, and trend-setting startups like Fuzzy.ai and Element AI, Montréal is at the international forefront and the numbers don’t lie. There’s over 91,000 AI experts working at 5,000 facilities, with over 9,000 university-level students preparing themselves to join the workforce. The city’s initiatives in gender and LGBTQ+ inclusion in the field are also setting trends within the industry.

The place to be for AI events

There’s many more reasons why AI is making a home in Montréal – and it’s no surprise to see several major related conferences on the calendar alongside the World Summit AI, with the 2019 IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Conference and the 2021 International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence as just two worth getting excited about. Attendees love our unbeatable blend of inspiring and unique event venues capable of hosting events both big and small, great hotels that make anyone feel right at home, and there’s even a few awards up on the wall that have us bursting with municipal pride, all adding up to why Montréal is now synonymous with AI events.
