YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport is one of Canada’s most important hubs, with direct service to 150 worldwide destinations. A true city of aviation, Montréal is home to both the flag carrier and the nation’s largest airline, Air Canada, as well as several of the world’s most important aviation organizations, including the ICAO and IATA. Notably, American travellers are increasingly using the airport as a seamless hub to transfer to European, African and Asian destinations.
The number of passengers utilizing YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport remains sky high. In recent years, upwards of 20 million passengers have passed through the airport annually, and YUL is preparing for steady growth over the next decade.
Speaking of growth, the ground transportation services to and from the airport are also diversifying.
Order a ride from your phone
Montréal’s ride-sharing application Eva was launched in 2019 by a group of enterprising University students looking to create a cooperative model — where the drivers are also owners — to get folks where they need to be in a snap. The Mozio airport transport system is also offered at YUL, and like other rideshare programs like Uber, all meet their passengers at the official pick-up areas at either Door 20 on the arrivals level or Door 6 of the departures level on the second floor.
Driver, roll up the partition please
Sometimes you want to impress a client. Along with traditional taxis, limousines are also available for travellers needing transport into the city. To find a limousine or taxi, go to the arrivals level near the central exit, where a dispatcher will assist you. For taxis, it is not necessary to book in advance. For limousines, booking ahead might be helpful, but is also not obligatory.
The collective choice
For the budget-conscious traveller, a public bus service called The 747 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The bus provides a direct line between the airport and downtown Montréal, where it stops at a handful of metro stations and hotels. The journey time is approximately 25-35 minutes to Métro station Lionel-Groulx and 45-70 minutes to the Berri-UQAM station, depending on traffic conditions. To catch the bus, head to the arrivals level.
Tip: Buy your ticket at one of the kiosks before you board! In addition to the in-person kiosks, you can purchase tickets electronically on the Chrono or Transit apps.
A dreamy direct train link
Upon its completion in 2024, the city’s new REM (Réseau express métropolitain) train will link downtown Montréal directly with the airport via Central Station in just 20 minutes — a few steps from the city’s convention centre, the Palais des congrés de Montréal.

Aéroports de Montréal (the governing body of the airport) is committed to making the Montréal-Trudeau airport as efficient and comfortable as possible, and recent innovations and renovations have only made a great airport even better. Easy to navigate, full of great dining and shopping options and well connected to the four corners of the globe, YUL is an airport that’s easy to love. We’re not one to brag, but it comes as little surprise that YUL was ranked as one of the Top 10 Airports in North America by the Skytrax World Airport Awards (ranking 6th place for Best Airport Staff in North America to boot).
