Green meetings What's New in Montréal

Take your gift baskets to new sustainable heights with these seven Montréal brands, whose very mission it is to make goods for a better tomorrow. Not only will you be implementing the sustainable practice of shopping local, you’ll be helping promote makers who eschew sweatshops and use recycled materials, all while introducing your attendees to Montréal’s diverse, innovative and eco-conscious creativity.

Kotmo pens

The Ciklo pen by Kotmo reinvents writing by being the first pen designed, sourced and manufactured in Québec using post-consumer recycled plastic. Being locally made means a 99% reduction in emissions compared to a pen made in Asia. And after your attendees are done with them, they can simply pop them into the recycling bin!

Mimi & August candles

These zero-waste scented candles are created so that their handsome containers can be reused again and again as a mug, vase or pen holder. The candles themselves are made from organic soy wax and a large selection of high-quality fragrances ranging from sweet to woody, floral and spicy.

BEDI apparel

BEDI was founded in 2019 by Inder Bedi, who was named as a Climate Champion by the United Nations in 2021 for his eco-fashion initiatives. The unisex brand of utilitarian outerwear, bags and knits is made from materials include upcycled seat belts, retired airline seats, salvaged furniture and a sustainable fabric made from regenerated fishnets.

Les Rescapés fruit spreads

The recipes for Les Rescapés’ addictive fruit spreads and conserves were penned by local celebrity chef Guillaume Cantin. These pretty potted treats — including the apple pie spread, the pineapple and vanilla jam and the grapefruit marmalade — are prepared in small batches in Montréal from unsold grocery store fruit, thus reducing food waste while delighting taste buds.

Cocooning Love cosmetics

Montréaler Carole Dewerre started this brand of eco-friendly and affordable all-vegan cosmetics as a side project and a labour of love. From lip balms to dry shampoos to skin cleansers and whipped butter creams, your attendees will be able to revitalize their skin on-the-go, in the knowledge that no creature was harmed in the making of their bliss.

Matt & Nat bags

Named after its sustainable mix of materials and nature, this globally enjoyed brand of vegan leather bags and accessories was founded in Montréal in 1995. Their materials include textiles made from recycled plastic bottles and bicycle tires, and their designs are stylish and timeless. Treat your attendees to everything from wallets to briefcases in a fetching range of colours.

Gibou accessories

Everything they make at Gibou reflects the company’s values: local manufacturing, the use of recycled fur exclusively and the upcycling of noble materials. Their warm winter tuques are knitted by local retirees — meet them by name on the website! In summer, explore their selection of beach towels. Each season brings its own capsule collection and special colourways.
