Startupfest 2019 is here!
Montréal is a hotbed of creativity and innovation, home to some international game changers and startups making big waves. Bringing the spotlight onto new creativity and businesses, Startupfest returns July 9-12, 2019 at their all new venue on Île Notre-Dame in Parc Jean-Drapeau, and it’s sure to be another unforgettable year of showcasing the latest and greatest in tech to come. Speakers include Chris Messina (inventor of the hashtag, which is #supercool), Dax Dasilva (author, CEO and founder of Lightspeed and Never Apart) and Cindy Alvarez, Principal Product Manager at Microsoft.
An event where inclusion is key
Montréal’s tech community is a place where diversity is key, including groups and conferences by and for underserved communities in the industry. Founded in 2018, Startupfest’s Inclusion Initiative was designed to give entrepreneurs from underrepresented groups the opportunity to attend, network and pitch, with a particular focus on assisting women in tech. By filling out a quick online application, Canadian women working in tech are eligible for a 90% discount on pass fees, a tech conference innovation that’s setting the bar for inclusivity.
The Montréal advantage
Montréal’s is an international trendsetter in sectors like neuroscience, clean technology, AI, cardiology, fashion, aerospace and oncology, with some of the most cutting edge companies active in the city. Montréal is also ranked as the top city for students in North America, with four world-class universities and the highest funded research initiatives in Canada, bringing both highly skilled students into the workforce and educating the next generation of entrepreneurs. Montréal’s vibrant core of knowledge and creativity makes it little surprise that Startupfest is without a doubt one of the must-experience tech conferences of the year, and the city the perfect host location for tech meetings and events. See you in the Parc!
