Business Events Montréal launches new ‘Our 720° Safety Protocol’
Montréal has a long history of being a favourite destination among event professionals. This is because the city offers easy accessibility and a vast array of cultural activities. It’s also because Montréal has always been a safe city. In fact, a recent ranking among 20 of the largest metropolitan areas in Canada and the USA indicated that Montréal was the safest.
This year has presented some fresh challenges for the events industry. But one thing remains a constant: hosting future meetings in Canada (and specifically in Montréal) is an attractive option because of the forward-thinking measures in place by various levels of government and health officials.
Our goal is to make sure the city remains just as safe as it has always been—even after the globe-changing events of 2020. That’s why we created and implemented a list of health protocols that streamline important information regarding events in Montréal.
Business Events Montréal (that’s us) created a health committee to serve as a bridge between the health standards issued by the government and public health agencies and by the meetings and events industry. The committee includes representatives from BEM, major and independent hotel chains, the Palais des congrès de Montréal (the convention centre), Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL), the ITHQ, service providers and DMCs, among others. One of the main results of this committee is Our 720° Safety Protocol.
Why 720°? Because we’ve checked everything... twice.
Simply defined, Our 720° Safety Protocol is a list of vital information pertaining to planning meetings and events in Montréal. The health protocol exists as a public reference document that includes government and public health requirements, suggestions for measures to lower the risks of gatherings, safety standards at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, as well as initiatives launched by hotels, the local convention centre, and other local stakeholders.
The overall objective is to continue to ensure that meetings and events hosted in Montréal are safe, successful and worry-free.
