The Palais des congrès: innovation that works for you
Located right in the heart of the city, the Palais des congrès de Montréal is not your average convention centre. Its location at the crossroads between the modern skyscrapers of downtown and cobblestones of Old Montréal make it incredibly walkable and bike-friendly, within close proximity to accommodations, shopping, cafes, restaurants and culture. And behind its iconic multi-coloured façade, this BOMA BESt Level 3 certified facility offers 551,520 sq. ft. (51,280 m²) of event rental space, including 113 rooms which can accommodate up to 1,950 booths. With so much to offer, it’s little surprise that 2019 was a record-breaking year for the Palais des congrès, with more events and attendees than ever before.
A dedication to sustainability and innovation
In 2019, the Palais des congrès announced its adoption of the UN’s Agenda for Sustainable Development, paving the way forward for sustainable events and positive impact within its walls, upon its roof, and in the greater community. The roof of the Palais offers almost 20,000 square feet of outdoor space complete with breathtaking views of Montréal, and is crowned with vast rooftop garden where vegetables, fruit and fine herbs are grown and beehives pollinate all the greenery. Launched in 2010, the green roof not only fights the “urban heat island” effect, but also provides a harvest of fresh produce and ingredients for the Palais kitchens and local community groups. The Palais also unveiled Canada’s first urban rooftop vineyard and the world’s first in a northern environment. The Urban Agriculture Laboratory won the AIPC Innovation Award in 2017.
A place of civic pride and expression
More than just a convention centre for out of towners, the Palais des congrès is also a place of gathering for Montréalers. A strong focus on local creativity and community interaction has made the Palais more than just one of the 1001 Buildings You Must See Before You Die but a cornerstone of the city’s urban fabric. With art installations, film screenings and pop-up exhibitions, there’s something for everyone to explore and enjoy.
Event technology to generate revenue
The Palais des congrès de Montréal is one of the most technologically-advanced convention centres in North America. The ultra-modern network infrastructure offers unparalleled reliability and wireless connectivity, supporting up to 20,000 simultaneous connections. An innovative digital display system lets event planners welcome attendees and keep them informed – and generate new revenue sources at the same time.
The Palais is one of the first convention centres in North America to place technology at the service of event planners by keeping them (and their exhibitors and attendees) connected and informed while offering the possibility of generating new sources of revenue for their events.
First, the powerful and reliable Wi-Fi network throughout the Palais gives planners two benefits in one service: high-speed connectivity, regardless of the number of attendees, plus prominent visibility on the connection page for sponsors. Add to that the cutting-edge digital display network, offering the latest generation of 55” HD screens and a 90-sq. ft. video wall located right in the heart of the highest traffic area of the Palais.
These prime visibility spaces can be rented and resold for great ROI. And now, the Palais also offers exhibitors a unique e-commerce portal that simplifies the purchase of products and services. Planners can offer sponsors new visibility spaces on this innovative platform. Last but not least, the Palais has partnered with world IT leader CGI to offer planners the option of creating a mobile application for their events that is flexible, secure and fully customizable – and offers a range of sponsorship opportunities to generate revenue.
