Sporting event Tourisme Montréal: News and People What's New in Montréal

Unfortunately this event has been cancelled.

Thousands of figure skating fans will gather at the Bell Centre from March 16 to 22, 2020 for the ISU World Figure Skating Championships! International and Olympic champions like Yuzuru Hanyu, Nathan Chen and Canadian national champions Paul Poirier and Piper Gilles will take to the ice (not to mention spin several jaw-dropping feet above it) and thrill the crowds in the most important annual figure skating event outside of the Olympics.

Take to the ice!

Montréal previously hosted the ISU Worlds 88 years ago in 1932, and the event has grown in stature and world attention in the years since to capture the hearts of over 300 million television viewers worldwide. Hosting 200 competitors from 50 countries in women’s, men’s, pairs and ice dance, it’s the place to be figure skating for competitors and fans from around the world – and the proof is in the pudding with thousands of fans planning to attend from the United States, Japan, China, the United Kingdom and elsewhere. And the added cherry on top this year in Montréal is the introduction of the very first ISU Skating Awards, sure to capture all the glitz and glamour of the world’s top prize ceremonies and make ISU 2020 one for the record books.

Montréal is laced-up and ready

With a proud Olympic past, packed annual sporting events calendar and urban sports throughout the city, it’s clear to any visitor that sports make up an important part of Montréal’s DNA. In what’s sure to be a banner year of competition and eye-popping achievement, the ISU Worlds are sure to add another exciting chapter to our rich sporting history. With our world class sports facilities, top tier accommodations, skilled suppliers with an eye for detail and the dedicated team at Sports Events Montréal here to ensure your next sporting event is a smash success, we’re proud to be Canada’s Sports City.
