C2 Montréal is an annual event with its flag planted at the intersection of commerce and creativity. The three-day business conference—which will take place 19-21 October—exists to help leaders invent the future of business. By taking a big picture look at all areas of society and using creativity as the catalyst to drive change, attendees are given the opportunity to access new ways of thinking and form new collaborations. Sure, it’s a business conference. But ask anyone who has attended, and they’ll tell you that it’s different.
Participants can attend in person or join remotely from anywhere in the world as part of C2’s online experience (details below).
Each year a theme is selected to orient creative business discussions, direct actions, and inspire participants and partners.
This year’s C2 Montréal theme is (Re). It speaks powerfully to the current moment: we have the collective opportunity to (Re)convene, (Re)connect, (Re)engage, (Re)imagine, and (Re)new.
Montréal’s one-of-a-kind performance complex, TOHU, will be home to the in-person experience at the 2021 edition of C2 Montréal. TOHU is in the heart of the Cité des arts du cirque, which is also home to C2 Montréal founding partner Cirque du Soleil. Renowned for its enchanting 360-degree performance hall, TOHU is an exceptional venue for creation, experimentation, and the convergence of culture and community.
In short, it’s an ideal setting for C2 Montréal.
C2 Montréal speakers are always an engaging mix of business innovators, ground-breaking creatives, and field-leading experts as well as the next generation of bold, change-making voices. This year is no exception. Here are just a few of the leaders who will be speaking.
- Mindy Kaling. Emmy-nominated writer, producer, New York Times best-selling author, director, and actor Mindy Kaling has been named one of the brightest voices of her generation.
- Dr. Farah Alibay. With a PhD in aerospace engineering from M.I.T., Alibay is a member of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where she is part of the M2020 mission, which landed the Perseverance rover on Mars early this year!
- Mr. Ghislain Picard. Since 1992, Picard has been Chief of the Assembly of First Nations Québec-Labrador (AFNQL), a political organization regrouping 43 Chiefs of the First Nations of Québec and Labrador.
- Danielle Krettek Cobb. Founder of Google Empathy Lab in 2015, Cobb had a desire to create humane, enlivening technology informed by empathy, resilience, and wisdom. The Lab’s work is inspired by natural patterns of interconnected flourishing and universal systems of being.
C2 Montréal’s workshops are where participants roll up their sleeves and get down to business prototyping solutions to real-world challenges. In the company of industry experts, they’ll tackle some of today’s most pressing burning questions at a range of topical workshops planned in collaboration with several leading companies and major organizations, including TikTok, Sid Lee, The Globe & Mail, the Gouvernement du Québec ,and the Ville de Montréal. Be sure to check the C2 Montréal programming schedule for more details.
A reimagined digital experience
The “online experience” component of C2 Montréal this year will take place on C2’s brand new digital event platform, C2Agora. It’s the gateway to all the online action, including live-streamed sessions, breakout rooms, workshop registration, access to eConcierges, video on demand, and more. The enhanced networking features of C2Agora include Tag-Based Networking (find the right people for you at C2), Schedule a Video Meet (exactly what it sounds like), Speaker Q&A (the ability to interact with speakers by asking questions during talks and masterclasses), and more.
Of special note is the also-new experience C2 Esplanade. Located on the C2Agora platform, C2 Esplanade is an intuitive virtual networking space for people to come together to meet new friends and business partners, talk shop, learn, and hang out with other participants. It’s an inviting, visually diverse space — think of it as a digital public square — divided into topic-themed zones with lots to discover.
In-person “Signature Experiences”
The limited capacity, in-person component of this edition of C2 Montréal will feature a number of new Signature Experiences: immersive learning, collaborating or relaxing experiences designed to spark creativity. They include Speed Coaching (30 minutes with an elite business coach), Netwalking (a fresh-air adventure that takes place in Montréal’s one-of-a-kind Frédéric-Back Park, a vast green space dedicated to the environment and culture), and what will doubtless be enormously popular, a Puppy Lounge where people can unwind in the company of puppies.
