What's New in Montréal Trends and Technology

Now in its fourth year, World Summit AI Americas returns to Montréal to connect the AI community with two packed days of AI content. Attendees include startup founders, academics, investors, business leaders, and folks from all levels of big tech companies. Forbes Magazine says that the event is, “A global force for good, focusing the attention of the data science and business communities on how our most cutting-edge tools can deliver a brighter future for us all.”

After two years of pandemic limitations, this year presents an exciting opportunity to network — in person! — with the brightest AI brains. Participants will also have opportunities to discuss and listen to the hottest AI-related topics with leading industry figures and influencers from business, science, and technology.

Important voices in AI

The World Summit AI global series is known for having the best-of-the-best speakers. Past speakers include leaders from Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Google, Intel, NASA, Uber, IBM Watson and so many more. Here are just a few of the notable speakers this year.

Doina Precup. Montréal’s own Precup splits her time between McGill University, where she holds a Canada-CIFAR AI chair in the School of Computer Science, and DeepMind Montréal, where she has been leading the research team since its formation.

Cassie Kozyrkov. As Chief Decision Scientist at Google Cloud, Kozyrkov advises leadership teams on decision process, AI strategy, and building data-driven organizations. She is the innovator behind bringing the practice of Decision Intelligence to Google, personally training over 15,000 Googlers.

Dr. Steve Chien. As a JPL Fellow, Senior Research Scientist, and Head of the Artificial Intelligence Group, at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, Chien has led the deployment of AI software to a wide range of missions including Autonomous Sciencecraft on EO-1, Earth Observing Sensorweb, and many more!

Irina Rish. An Associate Professor in the Computer Science and Operations Research Department at the Université de Montréal (UdeM) and a core faculty member of MILA – Quebec AI Institute. She holds Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in Autonomous AI and a Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) Canada AI Chair.

Baiju Devani. As head of Machine Learning at TD Group, Baiju is responsible for at-scale development and deployment of machine learning algorithms across multiple lines of businesses and that positively impacts millions of customers in North America.
